Are we vulnerable to negativity?
That was the question that I was asked.
I smiled.
Life means surrendering control and being vulnerable. Every night, you go to bed trusting that you and your loved ones will wake up the next day. Every morning, you wake up with hope, expectations, and maybe a prayer that the day goes well.
We are vulnerable. On our own we are helpless; we depend on the generosity of nature, people and animals for our survival and happiness. Our lives are pleasant, when our surroundings are pleasant. If any of these throws a tantrum, life becomes unpleasant.
The orchestra of your life depends on every musician, every instrument and You, the conductor of your life being in sync and playing in harmony. One truant musician, one missing instrument and music becomes jarring noise.
So, are you vulnerable to screeching noises that pierce your heart? Of course you are. We all are.
The question is, how do you, the conductor, respond to that noisy moment? Do you:
Rave and rant, pull your hair, and curse the errant musician
Rave and rant, calm down, and blame yourself, maybe forever
Continue to play, that moment with the discordant note is in the past, you create music only in the present
The choice, as always, is yours
